Our fee, and your cloud bill. Nothing in between.
No credit unit. No DBU equivalent. You see cloud dollars and our fee, separately, and where a compute figure is an allocation rather than a measurement we say so and show the split.
Read this before the table. Spark, Flink, StarRocks, Hudi, GCP, Azure, your own model endpoint and all four agents — Pipeline, Quality, Analyst and Repair — are not built yet. They appear in the tiers below because that is what each tier will include — not what you can use this month. The build order is public. Customer-managed keys are built in the console for an AWS plane in your own account and are not switched on yet; a key in CloudHSM or an external key store is not supported yet.

The trial is not open sign-up yet, and the button order says so. Sign-in runs through Google against an app still in testing, so only addresses we have added can authenticate. Anyone else is turned away at the account picker and never sent back — we would not even see the attempt, which is exactly the kind of silent failure this site is trying to stop having. So email us and we will add you, usually the same day. After that the console creates the workspace itself: no card, no call, no demo-booking flow. What you get is the account, and a query runs on it: DuckDB only, on a data plane that reports it can. Team is not self-serve either, and it is waiting on a payment processor rather than on capacity.
Ninety days, and we can withdraw it
The trial runs ninety days, and its caps are 90 vCPU-hours per 30-day period and 5 GiB of storage. After that you pay to carry on, and nothing is deleted at the boundary.
Enforcement of the storage cap. The compute cap is measured and enforced: your vCPU-seconds are charged per query, and once your period’s grant is used the next query is refused — by name, before it is sent, so nothing runs and nothing is billed. The refusal states your own figure, which is not the table’s if you signed up from a personal address (see below). Storage is measured about every fifteen minutes, on a plane that reports it can, and is not enforced: nothing refuses a write for being over. If you cross that one we will write to you rather than cut you off mid-pipeline. We would rather say which half is which than let you discover it either way.
We may withdraw the trial entirely, at any time. We would rather write that here than have it appear in a terms document you find later. It exists so you can try this on your own data. It is not a free tier, and it is not something to build a plan on.
A one-time balance of ten US dollars for agent usage — a starting balance, in the same currency as every other figure on this site. Not a unit, and no conversion rate, because there is nothing to convert. Nothing draws it down yet: the agents are unbuilt, so the balance is granted and untouched.
A personal email address earns a smaller trial. Signing up from gmail, outlook, icloud, proton and about two dozen similar domains grants a third of the compute, two gigabytes of storage and five US dollars of agent spend instead. Use a work address to get the numbers in the table. The domain sizes the trial; it never gates the door.
The trial is DuckDB only
Our published table said DuckDB and Trino. That was wrong, and this is the correction. Several free tenants’ rows would pass through one Trino JVM’s memory, and no amount of policy makes that a story we would want to tell. Trial DuckDB runs one pod per query in a sandbox — no shared process, no shared heap.
It also means the cheapest tier is the one whose bill is exactly right: one pod, one query, one pod-hour from the provider’s own cost data. Measured, not allocated.
The 25% management fee is a line on the statement
On Team, compute is your cloud cost plus 25%, and that 25% appears as its own line on your monthly statement. It is the only fee on Team: there is no flat platform fee. A visible markup on a real number is more trustworthy than an invisible margin inside a credit unit — and it is the whole argument in miniature.
The fee is worked out once for your organisation, on what we pay for your planes, and a month that has not closed shows no fee figure: it is 25% of a cost that is still moving. A closed statement can still move too, and says so.
At-rest encryption is free at every tier including the trial. Charging for baseline encryption would be indefensible.
On Team, the management fee is charged on the platform and work lines of your statement and on nothing else. It is not charged on model spend. No model has been called on any plane yet, so there is no model spend today.
Why Hudi is gated to Business
Not to upsell. Hudi’s table services — compaction, clustering, cleaning — carry genuine operational cost, and offering them on the Team tier would be a support liability. Hudi is not offered to anyone until its table services have passed a 30-day unattended proof on our own QA plane. Choosing Hudi also removes three of five engines from the write path, which the router enforces at table creation rather than letting you discover in production.
Typical annual contract values are $22–36K on Team, $70–120K on Business and $180–450K on Enterprise. We will model your current spend on your own workload before you sign anything, and we do not publish a per-unit comparison against any other vendor — the only number worth having is the one measured on your data.
